We are so excited to bring you our long delayed "Road Trip" itinerary. This one could be such an adventure. This time we go to the "wild" western part of the state.
Out of one hunter's devotion to his faithful coonhound was born the "Key Underwood Coon Dog Memorial Graveyard," which has become a popular tourist attraction and is the only cemetery of its kind in the world.
The Rattlesnake Saloon, “the watering hole under the rock” will be our lunch destination. If you’d like to peruse a menu, please do so at rattlesnakesaloon.net. This is a unique dining destination nestled under rock outcrop in Tuscumbia.
The Wachahpi Commemorative Stone Wall, known as Tom’s Wall, was built to commemorate Te-lah-nay’s journey back to Alabama after relocation during the Trail of Tears. It is the largest memorial built in honor of a woman. Hendrix spent more than 33 years building the wall. We have 2 copies of the book, If the Legends Fade, written by the Wall’s builder, Tom Hendrix if you would like to read it prior to the trip. Te-lah-nay was Tom’s great-great-grandmother.
Please register for this adventure (remember-you need to arrange your carpools) on the website (Calendar) or call Cathy Brickey or Nicki Thompson. There will be a spot to indicate who you might be driving (riding) with but it won’t be required to sign up.
