This is my first event and will be an opportunity to find out the group's recommendations for favorite trails and level of preferred physical effort. This is our group and I want everyone to enjoy the walk, strengthen and make new friendships and hopefully feel good after the walking. Please note the new time. By starting earlier, you have your afternoon free and as the weather heats up, we can avoid the hottest part of the day.
When: Friday, March 27th, 9:00am
Walk: Indian Creek Greenway
Where: Creekwood Park off Slaughter (Indian Creek Greenway, Farrow Rd and Indian Creek Greenway, Huntsville, AL 35806). Meet at the trail head.
Descriptions: Indian Creek Greenway (Huntsville/Madison): is a 3-mile (approximate total), paved, multi-use path popular for walking, running, and biking, featuring two main sections near Slaughter Road and U.S. 72. It begins at Slaughter Road and runs northwest for two miles from Old Madison Pike up to Creekwood Park. Another section north of Highway 72 runs one mile. It will eventually total six miles and run to Old Monrovia Rd when completed. The beautiful greenway route meanders north along the creek, bordered by farmland and woods; we will walk the paved area along the creek.
We will meet at 9:00am with the walk starting at 9:10am. Well behaved dogs or walking companions are welcome to join. To protect everyone, the walk will be canceled if, at 9:00am, there is inclement weather, the temperature is below 40 degrees or above 90 degrees. Please register so we know to look for you. If you need to cancel, please do so through the website to assist me staying organized. Any questions please call/text Denise at 919.609.6804.
